An ARB 5425100 steel underbody protection set for the Toyota LandCruiser 300. A set of panels covering the chassis components in turn, in 3 mm steel, mounted in the factory points. The manufacturer gives two important limitations: the guard does not fit the GR Sport version and is not compatible with enlarged Long Ranger fuel tanks.

ARB steel underbody protection set - Toyota LandCruiser 300

There are a few things under a four-wheel drive that cannot be fixed at the roadside: the sump, the steering, the gearbox housing and the transfer case. Factory guards are usually thin sheet or plastic, designed for stones off the road rather than for a rock you drive onto with the full weight of the vehicle. ARB steel skid plates turn the most vulnerable part of the vehicle into a surface you can slide across instead of stopping on.

Key features

  • A set of panels protecting the key chassis components, not a single plate under the engine
  • Pressed and folded 3 mm steel sheet – stronger than typical flat-plate designs
  • Laser cutting – precise alignment with the vehicle's mounting points
  • Steel parts protected by powder coating or galvanising
  • Protected mounting points with easy access when the vehicle is serviced
  • Mounts in the factory points – no drilling in the chassis

Fitment

The set is for the Toyota LandCruiser 300.

Two limitations stated by the manufacturer

  • The guard is not compatible with the GR Sport version. The GR Sport routes its underbody components differently, so the set does not fit it.
  • The guard is not compatible with enlarged Long Ranger fuel tanks. If you are planning both, a choice has to be made – get in touch and we will work through it with you.

What an ARB skid plate set covers

ARB underbody protection sets are built around the same four areas, although the number of panels and their shape depend on the vehicle:

  • front engine guard panel – protects the engine, steering components and the sway bar;
  • sump and front differential guard panel – together with its mounts and access for draining the oil;
  • gearbox guard panel;
  • transfer case guard panel.

The importer gives no detailed contents list or panel weights for this part number. We do not copy that data from another number – we confirm the contents with the supplier before dispatch. Get in touch if you need that information before buying.

Installation notes

The guards mount in the factory mounting holes, so nothing has to be drilled in the chassis. This is work on a hoist and usually for two people – steel panels are heavy and you hold them above your head. For complete sets, allow an hour to two depending on the vehicle.

Two things to check after fitting: that the oil drain plug and the filters are still accessible, and that the guard does not cover the jacking points. Keep the weight in mind too – a complete steel set is several tens of kilograms added under the front of the vehicle, and you will feel it in the front springs.

Frequently asked questions

Does fitting require drilling?

No. ARB guards mount in the vehicle's factory mounting holes.

Will the guard make oil changes harder?

It should not – ARB panels provide access to the drain plug, and the mounting points are designed so they can be undone for servicing. If in doubt we will check it for the specific part number.

How much does it weigh?

It depends on the vehicle and how many panels the set covers – for complete sets, several tens of kilograms. Where the manufacturer states a weight for the part number, you will find it in the technical data above.

Does the suspension need attention afterwards?

A complete steel set adds weight under the front of the vehicle. If you already have a steel bar and a winch, it is worth checking the front springs at the same time – we are happy to help match them.

Not sure this is the number for your version? Send us the model, year, engine and gearbox – we will confirm the choice with the supplier. We do the fitting in our own workshop.
