MetalCloak Duroflex Joint 2 5/8" x 2 5/16" for 2.5" Johnny Joint (part no. 7351)
Running arms with 2.5" Johnny Joint housings and want the joints to be quieter and last longer? MetalCloak offers a Duroflex joint that goes into the same housing in place of the ball-type joint.
Model 7351 measures 2 5/8" OD x 2 5/16" length. In an answer to a customer MetalCloak explains that its Johnny Joint kits only fit standard-width 2.5" housings with a 9/16" (14 mm) bolt hole.

Key benefits of the Duroflex joint
- Vibration damping. MetalCloak claims an OEM-quality ride and better damping than rubber Clevite-style bushings. In practice, less axle vibration reaches the body.
- High misalignment. The joint lets the arm work at an angle without binding, which means freer axle articulation off road.
- Self-centering. Once unloaded, the arm returns to its neutral position.
- Absorbs micro-movements. The elastomer takes up the small rotational movements of daily driving that gradually wear out conventional ball-type flex joints.
- Bearing-like outer surface. At large angles the outer surface of the insert rotates in the housing instead of binding the arm.
- Kevlar in the compound. MetalCloak's proprietary elastomer is reinforced with DuPont Kevlar fibre. Kevlar inserts carry an "M" logo on the outer surface.
- Easy to rebuild. The joint does not need parts replaced every year; when it is time, you pull the insert, clean it, grease it and reassemble.
Important limitations
- The kit does not fit Johnny Joint housings of other widths or bolt holes — MetalCloak confirmed it has no kit for e.g. a 2 1/2" joint with a 2.812" x .750" ball.
- Duroflex joints are not designed for other makers' housings (e.g. Rubicon Express long arms) — MetalCloak's answer to a customer question.

The standard-width 2.5" Johnny Joint housing with a 9/16" (14 mm) bolt hole.
Does it fit Rubicon Express arms?
MetalCloak says Duroflex joints are designed for its own housings and do not fit others; it has no direct-fit insert for Rubicon Express arms.
How does 7350 differ from 7351?
7350 (rebuild) is 2 5/8" long, 7351 (upgrade) is 2 5/16" long. Both are 2 5/8" in diameter with identical kit contents.
