MetalCloak Forged Duroflex Joint 2" x 1/2" BH, Left hand thread (part no. 7320-L)

Building your own control arms or repairing a damaged end? A forged Duroflex joint gives you a complete arm end: a housing with a threaded shank and a factory-fitted elastomer joint that damps vibration while allowing large misalignment off road.

The housing is forged from 1040 steel. MetalCloak points out that forging eliminates internal voids and gives a uniform grain flow, while the thread lets you lengthen or shorten the arm for adjustment. MetalCloak designation: 2" x 1/2" BH x 2 1/4" Housing x 1" Straight Shank. Straight shank.

This listing is the left hand thread version (MetalCloak part number 7320-L). The right hand version is available as a separate product, MC7320.

Key benefits of the Duroflex joint

• Vibration damping. MetalCloak claims an OEM-quality ride and better damping than rubber Clevite-style bushings. In practice, less axle vibration reaches the body.
• High misalignment. The joint lets the arm work at an angle without binding, which means freer axle articulation off road.

• Absorbs micro-movements. The elastomer takes up the small rotational movements of daily driving that gradually wear out conventional ball-type flex joints.
• Bearing-like outer surface. At large angles the outer surface of the insert rotates in the housing instead of binding the arm.
• Kevlar in the compound. MetalCloak's proprietary elastomer is reinforced with DuPont Kevlar fibre. Kevlar inserts carry an "M" logo on the outer surface.
• Easy to rebuild. The joint does not need parts replaced every year; when it is time, you pull the insert, clean it, grease it and reassemble.

Installation and maintenance

• MetalCloak does not supply written instructions with this product.
• Rebuild according to MetalCloak: pull the insert, clean it, apply fresh Teflon-impregnated synthetic silicone grease (MetalCloak uses Superlube) and reassemble the joint.

Frequently asked questions

Why left and right hand versions?

On an adjustable arm one end has a right hand thread and the other a left hand thread, so turning the arm tube lengthens or shortens it without unscrewing the ends. Check which one you need.

What does "BH" mean?

Bolt hole – the diameter of the mounting bolt hole in the joint.

Is the jam nut included?

Yes. The kit contains the housing, Duroflex joint, retaining clip, two retaining rings and a jam nut.

What is the housing made of?

Forged 1040 steel with a gold zinc coating.
