A RAM 2500 on its factory radius arm suspension is composed on tarmac, but off-road it runs out of travel and traction quickly. The complete MetalCloak system replaces the arms, coils, track bars and bump stops with one tuned package designed to keep the truck civilised for daily driving.

Duroflex joint with Kevlar fibre
Duroflex is a patented joint made from a proprietary vulcanized elastomer with DuPont Kevlar fibre compounded into it. It combines the behaviour of a rubber bush and a spherical joint: it damps vibration and self-centres, while giving — according to MetalCloak — over 34 degrees of misalignment per joint, i.e. over 68 degrees per control arm. The outer surface of the bushing works as a bearing, so the arm does not bind at full articulation. The joint is maintenance-free and rebuildable, so after years it is the insert that gets replaced, not the whole arm. Kevlar bushings are marked with an "M" on the outer surface.
True Dual Rate coils
True Dual Rate coils have one of the longest free lengths on the market, which keeps the wheel on the ground longer during articulation. The dual-rate design solves the classic lift problem: a single low-rate spring would be too soft and every load would change ride height. Here the first part of the travel is soft and the rate rises as the spring compresses. The coils that close up form a "virtual bucket" that lowers the spring seat and limits buckling.
Durotrak bushing
Durotrak is a patented two-piece NVH bushing made from a proprietary elastomer. The two halves thread together, so no press is needed to fit it. The bushing damps vibration reaching the steering wheel and sharpens steering response. The bar itself is solid 4130 chromoly, shaped to clear the axle at both full compression and full droop.
