Control arms carry the whole axle load and decide how far the suspension can articulate. The Duroflex versions use vulcanized elastomer joints that move like a spherical joint but need no greasing and do not rattle.

Duroflex joint with Kevlar fibre
Duroflex is a patented joint made from a proprietary vulcanized elastomer with DuPont Kevlar fibre compounded into it. It combines the behaviour of a rubber bush and a spherical joint: it damps vibration and self-centres, while giving — according to MetalCloak — over 34 degrees of misalignment per joint, i.e. over 68 degrees per control arm. The outer surface of the bushing works as a bearing, so the arm does not bind at full articulation. The joint is maintenance-free and rebuildable, so after years it is the insert that gets replaced, not the whole arm. Kevlar bushings are marked with an "M" on the outer surface.

No. Control arms correct the geometry after a lift — the height itself comes from coils or spacers.
