How Lock-N-Load works

Lock-N-Load replaces only the passenger-side upper control arm; the driver-side arm stays as it is. Locked, it behaves like an ordinary solid arm and holds the geometry on the road. Unlocked, it lets the axle roll fore and aft, relieving the bushings and brackets and increasing articulation. Locking and unlocking does not change the length of the arm, so the geometry returns to where it was. It works only on a front linked radius arm suspension where the upper arm joins the lower arm with a joint and the axle end with a clevis.

Duroflex joint with Kevlar fibre

Duroflex is a patented joint made from a proprietary vulcanized elastomer with DuPont Kevlar fibre compounded into it. It combines the behaviour of a rubber bush and a spherical joint: it damps vibration and self-centres, while giving — according to MetalCloak — over 34 degrees of misalignment per joint, i.e. over 68 degrees per control arm. The outer surface of the bushing works as a bearing, so the arm does not bind at full articulation. The joint is maintenance-free and rebuildable, so after years it is the insert that gets replaced, not the whole arm. Kevlar bushings are marked with an "M" on the outer surface.
