MetalCloak True Dual Rate Coils, Rear, 4.5" Max Flex, RAM 2500 2014+ (part no. 8028)

A dual-rate coil has to reconcile two things: a soft initial travel for comfort and a firm end so a loaded RAM does not squat. That is what True Dual Rate coils do.

True Dual Rate coils

True Dual Rate coils have one of the longest free lengths on the market, which keeps the wheel on the ground longer during articulation. The dual-rate design solves the classic lift problem: a single low-rate spring would be too soft and every load would change ride height. Here the first part of the travel is soft and the rate rises as the spring compresses. The coils that close up form a "virtual bucket" that lowers the spring seat and limits buckling.

Manufacturer notes

  • Matching parts: True Dual Rate coils are engineered to work best with Duroflex control arms and RockSport shocks.
  • True Dual Rate coils: MetalCloak does not recommend powder coating the coils. The baking process can change the metallurgical properties of the spring and cost it its lift height; powder coating also voids the coil warranty.
  • Alignment: MetalCloak recommends having a suspension specialist align the vehicle once the suspension is installed.
Before you order
MetalCloak lists this set as 4.5" (Max Flex) coils, yet the page address and some images come from the 3.5" version. We will confirm the lift height with the manufacturer before shipping.

The shipping weight shown here is our own estimate — MetalCloak does not publish a weight for this item. We confirm shipping cost before processing the order.

Frequently asked questions

Can the coils be powder coated?

MetalCloak advises against it — the baking process can change the properties of the steel and cost lift height, and powder coating voids the coil warranty.

Do the coils work with factory shocks?

Mechanically yes, but MetalCloak tunes them for RockSport shocks and Duroflex arms. With a taller lift the factory shocks need extensions.

Szekla4x4 is an authorised MetalCloak dealer. We import this part directly from the manufacturer in the USA and confirm lead time when you order. Technical data and fitment are quoted from MetalCloak — if something is not listed here, it is because the manufacturer does not publish it.
