A set of struts for the load bed tailgate on the Ford Ranger, model years 2012-2018. The supplier states two things that change once they are fitted: the tailgate drops more slowly and can carry more load.
The Ranger's factory tailgate drops on cables and after a few years tends to slam down hard. A gas strut takes over part of that movement, so the tailgate comes down under control and the hinges and cables stop taking a hit. The second effect is more usable load on the open tailgate — you can use it as an extension of the bed with more confidence than on cables alone.
The photo shows what is in the kit: two black gas struts with eyelets, brackets with a pin, mounting plates, threaded studs with nuts, washers, springs, clips and bolts.

The supplier does not state whether fitting uses factory points or requires drilling. Nor does it give the strut force in newtons or its stroke — and that is what determines how firmly the tailgate is held. If you have a canopy, a roller cover or a hook on the bed side, ask us.
