A set of four APEX RCV valves that screw onto the existing stem once the core is removed and stay there, including while driving. The patented design needs no tyre removal, and fitting all four wheels takes up to 5 minutes. Dropping four 35" tyres from 30 to 15 PSI takes about 2 minutes. A fitting tool and a timing sticker are included.

APEX RCV Rapid Connect Valve screw-on deflators - set of 4

Most deflators have to be screwed on at a stop, watched, then stowed somewhere they will not get lost in the boot.

The RCV works differently: you fit it once and it stays on the stem, including on the road. Before a trail you just slide it open.

  • Fitting time: up to 5 minutes for a set of 4 wheels
  • Deflation time: four 35" tyres from 30 to 15 PSI in about 2 minutes
  • Design: patented, no need to remove the tyre from the rim
  • Manufacturer's note: the RCV is not as fast as the RPV, but fitting is simpler

Who it is for

For drivers who want to air down faster than with a key but do not want to replace the valve stems in their wheels. The RCV is the middle road: simpler to fit than the RPV, though slower to deflate.

Installation and notes

Fitting means removing the core from the existing valve stem and screwing the RCV in its place. Check the stem ends before fitting - if they are uneven, dress them with a fine file until flat and smooth. If a leak appears after fitting, remove the RCV, flatten the end and wrap the stem thread with three or four turns of PTFE tape.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tyre have to come off the rim?

No. The patented design lets the valve be fitted without removing the tyre - you only take out the valve core.

Does the RCV stay on the wheel while driving?

Yes. The manufacturer designed it to remain on the stem permanently.

How does it differ from the RPV?

The RPV deflates faster but requires replacing the whole valve stem in the wheel. The RCV is slower but simpler to fit and leaves the wheel alone.

What else is in the set?

A multi-function fitting tool and a deflation timing sticker. The manufacturer supplies these only with the four and five valve sets.

Why it is worth it

  • fitting with no workshop and no tyre removal
  • the valve stays on the wheel, so there is nothing to lose and nothing to find
