An Old Man Emu MT64 front shock absorber, part number MT64901007. A monotube design with a 64 mm bore, an aerospace aluminium body and a 22.5 mm shaft. Six machined grooves let the circlip and spring seat move through six positions at 5 mm intervals, so one spring covers a range of vehicle loads.
A touring vehicle gains weight every season: a bar, a winch, drawers, a tank, a roof load. Usually that means replacing the suspension along the way. The MT64 handles it differently – the spring seat moves through six positions at 5 mm intervals, so preload and ride height are adjusted without changing the shock. Add a 64 mm bore and an aluminium body that sheds heat far faster than steel.
Design 64 mm monotube | Shaft 22.5 mm | Spring seat six positions at 5 mm |
Sources disagree on the vehicle for this part number, so it has to be confirmed before ordering.
Importer price list and description: Toyota Hilux from 2015.
Old Man Emu suspension selection guide: MT64901007 appears as a Strut MT64 for the front axle of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado 150 (to 09/2017 and from 10/2017, 2.8 diesel and 4.0 petrol, KDSS and non-KDSS), the FJ Cruiser from 2011, the 4Runner 2010–2024 and the Tacoma 2005–2015 and from 2016. The Hilux does not appear against this number.
We are not settling this on the manufacturer’s behalf: the MODEL feature is left empty and the fitment is confirmed with the supplier before dispatch. Send us the model, year and specification of your vehicle and we will check the number before you order.
Setting the circlip and spring seat higher gives more spring preload and more height – for accessories or other added load. Setting it lower prepares the strut for a lighter vehicle, for example one without a steel bar and winch.

Which vehicle does this number fit?
The sources disagree: the importer says Hilux from 2015, while the OME selection guide points to the Prado 150, FJ Cruiser, 4Runner and Tacoma. We confirm the fitment with the supplier before dispatch.
What does the name MT64 mean?
A monotube design with a 64 mm internal bore.
Why an adjustable spring seat?
It lets one spring cover a range of loads. As the vehicle gains weight over time the shock is adjusted rather than replaced.
