Snatch Block
EFS Recon Snatch Block, Heavy Duty 8 t, Greasable
Heavy duty EFS Recon snatch block rated at 8000 kg. It lets you run the winch line as a double pull instead of a single one, which genuinely increases pulling force, and it redirects the line when you cannot line the vehicle up straight. A grease nipple keeps the sheave running smoothly after a season in the mud.
EFS Recon Snatch Block, Heavy Duty 8 t, Greasable
Sooner or later the moment arrives: the winch is pulling, the line is tight, and the vehicle is not moving. Or worse, the only solid tree stands thirty degrees off to one side and the rope starts stacking against one end of the drum. One piece of equipment answers both problems.
The 8 tonne EFS Recon snatch block lets you run the line through it and back to the vehicle, so two parts of the rope pull instead of one and the winch works with margin rather than at its limit. Hung on an anchor point, the same block redirects the pull when there is no way to line up straight.
Rating 8000 kg | Build Heavy duty | Servicing Grease nipple fitted |
Key benefits
- A double line pull increases effective winch force — real reserve exactly where a single line has run out of it.
- Redirecting the pull lets you use an anchor point at an awkward angle without repositioning the vehicle.
- An 8000 kg rating covers typical recoveries of a four-wheel drive ute or wagon with margin to spare.
- The grease nipple lets you service the sheave after every dirty recovery instead of waiting for it to seize.
- Heavy duty construction built for genuine winching loads, not occasional towing.
Technical data
- Type: snatch block for winch recovery, heavy duty
- Maximum load: 8000 kg (8 tonnes)
- Lubrication: grease nipple
- Purpose: increasing winch pulling force and changing the direction of pull
- Manufacturer: EFS 4x4, Australia
It belongs in any group that heads off-road with a winch: deep mud extractions, sideways exits from a ditch, recoveries where the angle matters more than raw power. If you are building a recovery kit, this is the item you add straight after the rope, shackles and tree trunk protector.
Fitting notes
The block is for pulling only. EFS states plainly that it must not be used to lift or support a load. Use a damper on the line and keep everyone out of the line of pull. After a muddy recovery, put some grease through the nipple.
Why it is worth it
- A genuine increase in what your existing winch can do, with no hardware upgrade.
- Freedom to choose an anchor point when nothing useful sits straight ahead.
- A greasable design you can keep in good order for years.
Add it to the recovery kit before you need it — halfway into a bog is a poor time to place an order.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the working load?
8000 kg, that is 8 tonnes.
Why use a snatch block with a winch?
Running the line through the block and back to the vehicle gives you a double pull instead of a single one, increasing effective winch force. It also redirects the line when the anchor point sits at an awkward angle.
Does it need maintenance?
It has a grease nipple, so you can pump grease in to keep the sheave turning freely — routine work after a muddy recovery.
Can I lift a load with it?
No. EFS states clearly that the block is not intended for lifting or supporting a load; it is vehicle recovery equipment.
