MetalCloak Game Changer 2.5″ Lift Kit, RockSport Black – Ineos Grenadier

From the factory the Grenadier is tuned as a compromise: comfortable enough on tarmac, capable enough off it. Add a steel bumper, a winch, a roof rack and jerry cans, and that compromise stops working – the car sits lower, the bump stops start doing the work, and on fast rough tracks the dampers heat up.

This kit fixes the problem as a system rather than piece by piece. You get a full set of adjustable Duroflex control arms, both adjustable Durotrak track bars, True Dual Rate coils and RockSport BLACK remote reservoir shocks – all matched to each other and to 2.5 inches of lift.

The kit is sold as one system: the manufacturer does not swap or remove individual parts from it. Every component is, however, available separately if you want to build your own configuration.

Duroflex control arms

Every arm is built from 1 5/8″ DOM tubing with a 0.25″ wall. That is not thin-wall tubing picked for a catalogue weight figure – that section survives a rock strike and off-axis loading.

Durotrak track bars

Both track bars are solid 4130 chromoly running Durotrak vulcanized elastomer bushings. Length adjustment lets you re-centre the axle after the lift – without it a lift always leaves the axle pushed to one side.

Coils and shocks

True Dual Rate coils carry two spring rates in a single coil, upper and lower. In practice the car rides softly over small stuff, and once loaded or deep into travel the spring firms up instead of slamming into the bump stops.

The RockSport BLACK shocks use a 2.5″ aluminium body with a 3/16″ wall and a 7/8″ hard-chrome shaft induction-hardened to Rockwell C 60+. The valving is parabolic: slow body movements and fast wheel impacts are damped differently.

Bump stops

The upper rear bump stop extensions are machined from 4″ OD black Delrin. DuroSpring bump stops are microcellular urethane, and the adjustable bump stops use a thermoset elastomer on 1008/1010 steel – together they close out the travel so nothing hits the body at full compression.

Who it is for

For a Grenadier that is actually driven off-road and carries expedition gear, not one that only needs to look taller. It earns its place where a bumper, a winch and a load have made the factory suspension too soft and too low, and where damping has to stay consistent over long, fast gravel.

If the car lives on tarmac and the lift is cosmetic, this is more hardware than the job needs – its value shows up in how the suspension works under load.
